Dreams to Reality…

If I can dream it, my son can build it! Plans for a rolling planter with hidden wheels took seed in my mind. It didn’t take long for him to gather some scrap lumber and convert my dream to reality. The base planter box is 18 inches deep, 12 inches wide and 6 foot long. A 5-foot-tall trellis flanks at rear. Four concealed wheels allow me to relocate the sizable structure indoors in winter without too much trouble. My Baby Grand helped me bring the planter box to life by sowing morning glory and moon flower seeds along the full expanse of the trellis.

We rolled the seeded trellis to a blank section of wall near the bay door at the front of our large metal outbuilding. The seeds responded well to sun and showers. Within a week, the sprouts were twisting their way up the metal trellis. Baby Grand was thrilled. Then he realized the vine located on the far end next to the bay door was triple the size of all the others. “We don’t all grow the same,” I offered in explanation.

After fertilizing my hanging ferns the next afternoon, I passed the new planter and involuntarily emptied the liquid fertilizer dregs from my bucket into the dirt filled box right next to the triple size vine. A bulb flashed on in my brain. Without realizing, I had been fertilizing that one vine for weeks and it showed! I immediately began spreading the fertilizer around equally amongst the sprouts. In the days that followed, each sprout responded with surprising growth.

It is the responsibility of the Church to sprinkle new believers with tidbits of our faith each time the opportunity presents. The way we live our lives inadvertently serve as nourishment as well. Like Baby Grand’s vine, new believers will grow and bloom in their newfound faith. Then their spirit filled lives will twist and turn as they work their way to new heights in Christ.

“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.”

Colossians 2:6-7
