Broken to Beautiful

Birthed from his desire to bring beauty back to the streets of his hometown of Lagos Nigeria, sculptor Nkwocha Ernest gathers old remnants of tires and meticulously arranges the pieces into artwork. His choice of medium not only brings beauty to Lagos, but to many public sites of display all over the African continent. During adventures abroad, I have viewed several of his works of art. It is obvious that Ernest finds joy in transforming broken into beautiful.

We are God’s works of art. The broken pieces of our past pile up over time creating an ugly and hard to navigate path for our way forward in life. Like Ernest‘s pieces of old tires, our broken past has no real value aside from serving as a medium for future development. If allowed, God will gather up the pieces, gently work His will through our lives and create something new and eye opening. He turns broken into beautiful!

“God, pick up the pieces. Put me back together again. You are my praise! “Jeremiah 17:14
