No Better Security Than God!

Not a day goes by that my phone or computer isn’t pinging with some sort of scam. Emails that say, “update your payment information” or “click here to claim your prize”. Text messages warning that a package can’t be delivered until I “verify” my information. Hackers are everywhere, constantly scheming to steal our identity. They try every trick in the book—fake bank notices, phony tech support calls, even made-up government threats—all with the same goal: to get what belongs to us.

Identity theft in this world is costly and frightening. It can drain bank accounts, ruin credit, and cause sleepless nights. But there’s a deeper truth that brings comfort: while someone may be able to steal my human identity, they can never steal my spiritual identity.

When we belong to Christ, our true identity is secure in Him. Jesus said, “I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand” (John 10:28). Hackers may trick us into giving away numbers and passwords, but there is no scheme clever enough to separate us from the love of God. Paul reminds us, “For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future…nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord” (Romans 8:38-39).

The devil is the ultimate hacker, always looking for ways to rob us of peace, joy, and assurance. Jesus warned us, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full” (John 10:10). But unlike an email scam, there is no way Satan can hack into the Kingdom and change who we are in Christ.

So when I see yet another message trying to lure me into surrendering personal information, I’m reminded that my eternal security is untouchable. My spiritual identity is safe. “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are” (1 John 3:1).

Our bank accounts may be vulnerable. Our credit cards may need monitoring. But our soul? That belongs to God—and no hacker can break through His security.
