Part Of The Journey

When someone we love is walking through a medical crisis, every update feels urgent. After our pastor’s surgery, many of us found ourselves checking social media again and again, waiting for the next word from his family. We love him deeply, and we long to know how to pray. Yet in their wisdom, his family has chosen to pause — to pray, to process, to make decisions together before sharing widely. And we understand and honor that.

Waiting is not easy. Silence can feel heavy. But God does some of His deepest work in the waiting. The psalmist reminds us in Psalm 27:14: “Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.” Waiting does not mean God is absent. It means He is still at work, even if we cannot yet see what He is doing.

In many ways, this moment mirrors our own daily walk with Christ. How often do we bring Him a prayer and long for an immediate answer? We watch and listen, sometimes feeling restless in the silence. Yet just as we are learning to trust our pastor’s family to take the time they need, we are reminded that our Heavenly Father also answers in His time, not ours. The waiting itself becomes part of the journey — teaching us trust, patience, and surrender.

Our pastor’s family is modeling that truth beautifully. They are leaning on God, seeking His direction before speaking. That is a powerful witness to us all. And in the meantime, our waiting becomes its own kind of prayer — not just for results, but for peace, wisdom, and God’s sustaining presence in every decision.

So while our hearts are eager for answers, let’s rest in the One who holds those answers. Let’s trust that His timing is perfect, and His care is unending.

Even in the silence, He is faithful.
